Motel Hell

Feature 1

Motel Hell is a point and click horror game, where player got lost on the way back home and encounter a horror night in a motel. It was build based on a point & click game demo, which focused on Item interaction/collection. To develop on the starter project, my teammates and I decided to add “Dialogue System” and “Item Craft System” in to the game.

Dialogues

The dialogues are evoked when player progresses the plot, interact with the environments or items or have conversations with NPCs. During the conversation, player can make choices on between conversation options, and the choices will be saved and have effects on later game.

Crafting System

As player exploring the environment, they will notice that some items in the environment could be collected and saved in the inventory. To craft a new item, player will select two item to see if they are able to be combined together. Different combinations can have different outcomes. With the crafted items, player will come up with ideas to solve the problems further in the game.

  • Sound Design

    Sound design in the game aim to create horror atmosphere and offer information. Each scene has its background sound which is mainly quite and creepy. The foley sound which happens when player interact with the environments make the sound more realistic. Besides, there are UI sounds when player collect/craft item and audio sound when player is having conversation with NPCs.
